Backend Engineer
Clinical Data & Reporting Systems

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to design and build the core data and reporting systems that power the GenTraceDx platform.
This role focuses on the infrastructure that transforms genomic and clinical data into structured, interpretable, and continuously updated outputs used by physicians and patients.
You will work at the center of:
- genomic data pipelines
- AI-driven interpretation systems
- clinical reporting infrastructure
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend systems for processing genomic and clinical data
- Build scalable pipelines for report generation and longitudinal updates
- Develop APIs and services that integrate AI outputs, bioinformatics pipelines, and clinical data sources
- Implement systems for structured report generation, versioning, and traceability
- Ensure data integrity, reproducibility, and auditability of clinical outputs
- Optimize performance and scalability for large-scale data processing
- Collaborate with AI, bioinformatics, and frontend teams to deliver production-ready systems
- Implement and maintain secure architectures aligned with healthcare data standards (HIPAA, PIPEDA, etc.)
Qualifications
- Strong experience in backend development (e.g., Python, Node.js, or similar)
- Experience building scalable data pipelines and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of API design and system architecture
- Experience with databases (relational and/or NoSQL) and data modeling
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar)
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data at scale
- Experience in healthcare, genomics, or regulated environments is an asset
